

On the 27th of September the professors of the Area of East Asian Studies of the UMA, Aurelia Martín Casares and Patricia Chica Morales attended the XII Meeting of Asian Studies (REA), organised by Casa Asia in collaboration with the Centre for Studies and Research on East Asia (CERAO) of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) which took place in Barcelona. In this edition, Dr. Tina Chen, director of Penn State’s Global Asias Initiative at Pennsylvania State University, gave the conference ‘Global Asias: Problems, Possibilities, Praxis’, where the speaker addressed the philosophy, principles and practices that lead research in the field of Global Asias. The lecture was followed by the round table ‘Knowledge transfer in Asian Studies in Spain’, where representatives of the Asian Studies Reflection Group discussed the challenges and importance of knowledge transfer in Asian Studies.
Professor Aurelia Martín also attended the meeting of the Asian Studies Reflection Group held on the afternoon of 26 September, which was also attended by professors from other Spanish universities, such as the University of Salamanca, the Autonomous University of Madrid, the University of Cadiz and the University of Valladolid, among others.
