The Asian book collection at the Faculty of Social Studies and Work (FEST) of the University of Málaga continues to expand with materials of great value for Asian Studies. Following the recent addition of over three thousand volumes from the personal library of the renowned French scholar of Ancient India, Michel Angot (1949–2024), nearly 300 more books focused on Ancient India have now been added. These come from the holdings of the University Institute for Research on the Ancient Mediterranean.
The Angot Donation, integrated into FEST through the Vice-Rectorate for Research, makes the University of Málaga one of the Spanish universities with the most extensive library dedicated to the thought and history of Ancient India. This collection includes key works on yoga, Buddhism, Hinduism, Sanskrit, and philosophy—many of which are no longer available on the market.
With these additions, the Asian book collection at FEST surpasses ten thousand volumes and strengthens its position as one of the most important specialized libraries for Asian Studies in the Spanish-speaking world.
FEST, the Degree in East Asian Studies, and the Asia Chair are preparing a public presentation of the collection through a series of lectures given by leading specialists in the field.
