On Tuesday, October 5, students from the East Asian Studies Degree – Korean Studies Track at the University of Málaga presented a series of performative pieces inspired by gender equality movements in South Korea.
The performances were the result of several sessions within the training workshop “Research with a Gender Perspective in the Field of Korean Studies: Creating Creative Spaces for Understanding.” During the workshop, students received both general training on conducting research with a gender perspective and specific insights related to gender issues in South Korea. They also received guidance on designing performative actions, communication for social action, and feminist movements in South Korea.
As a result, six pieces were created, focusing on themes such as the sexualization of women, gender-based violence, and breaking away from normative standards.
