2nd Summer Course: Korean Literature TranslationUniversity of Málaga

The University of Málaga and the Literature Translation Institute of Korea (LTI Korea), within the framework of the International Campus of Excellence Andalucía TECH, organized the 2nd Introductory Course on Korean–Spanish Translation with the aim of continuing to provide specialized training and essential tools to those interested in the field of Korean–Spanish translation, and to contribute to the development of a new generation of Korean–Spanish literary translators.

Course

The course consisted of 60 hours, divided as follows:

– 36 hours of in-person instruction, delivered over 12 sessions
– 24 hours of individual work (2 hours per session)

Throughout these sessions, students read, translated, edited, and discussed excerpts from the work “A Story About Everything but the Kirin” (기린이 아닌 모든 것에 대한 이야기) by author Lee Jangwook (이장욱), whom they had the opportunity to meet during the latter part of the course.

Students who completed the course received 2 ECTS credits.

Registration and Enrollment

Those interested in participating in the course were able to register until July 25, 2016, at 11:59 PM via an online form.

All applicants underwent an oral proficiency test to assess their level of Korean, and 10 participants were selected. Each selected participant was required to pay a €55 enrollment fee to confirm their place.
