The Thematic Network East Asian Women’s Studies inaugurates its “1st Itinerant Exhibition of Scientific Posters”.
The Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) started last Monday, November 29th the 1st Itinerant Exhibition of Scientific Posters of the Thematic Network “East Asian Women’s Studies”. An activity carried out by the members of the Network and in collaboration with the East Asian Studies Area of the University of Malaga and other universities and institutions such as the Confucius Institute of Madrid.
The exhibition was on display at the entrance hall of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of Madrid until mid-January.
The opening ceremony was attended by Professor Aurelia Martín (Principal Researcher and Professor at the University of Malaga), Gladys Nieto (Professor, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and coordinator of this activity at that university), Rafael Benítez Sánchez-Blanco (Professor at the University of Valencia), Alicia Relinque Eleta (Professor at the University of Granada) and Nobuo Ignacio López-Sako (Professor at the University of Granada), members of the Thematic Network.
During the opening ceremony, participants were able to enjoy a performance by the company “Cangrejo Pro”, formed by young people of Chinese origin living in Madrid, who investigate the construction of identity through artistic elements such as performance, and a round table debate with members of the Network, experts in women’s studies in South Korea, China and Japan.
The exhibition, funded by the University of Malaga’s Plan Propio and designed by the members of the Network, will be exhibited in several Spanish universities with the aim of disseminating the problems encountered by East Asian women in various disciplines, such as literature, history and anthropology.
