On May 7, the lecture “Post Household Head or Hoju System and Customary Law in Korea” took place in the course “Korean Popular and Contemporary Culture”. Professor Jeon-cheol An, from the Università Ca’ Foscari of Venice, presented the legal framework after the abolition of the Hoju system, where the family responsibility fell on the figure of the head of the household. He then presented a number of legal cases that gave a practical insight into the effects of this change on the subsequent inheritance system.
