Conference Countering the ‘Korean Discount’ with Popular Culture: Causes, Critiques and Hallyu Trajectories

On 19 December, the conference ‘Countering the “Korea discount” with popular culture: Causes, critiques and trajectories of Hallyu’, given by Professor Francesca Frassineti of the University of Bologna (Italy), was presented. During the presentation, the professor introduced other perspectives on Hallyu (Korean wave) and its relation to politics.

Francesca Frassineti teaches Negotiation Techniques for International Relations at the University of Bologna and Contemporary East Asian History at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. She completed her PhD in Global and International Studies with a thesis on South Korea as a power and the limitations of its foreign policy after the democratic transition.
