2nd EDITION of JEONG Awards

JEONG TFG/TFM Awards 2nd EDITION

The Area of East Asian Studies – Department of Historical Sciences of the UMA organized the 2nd Edition of the JEONG research awards within the project of the Korean Ministry of Education “Path to Equality: Korean Studies Network on inclusiveness” (AKS-2021-INC-2250002). This initiative was launched to encourage and recognize the work of students who base their Bachelor’s and Master’s theses on projects that investigate and disseminate issues of equality, marginalization and inclusion in Korea.

Students who have presented and defended their TFG or TFM between January 2021 and December 2022 in any of the degrees offered at the different universities in Spain may participate in this call. The thesis had to be original and had to be presented according to the following rules that can be downloaded below in this publication.

The Research Awards program had awarded two prizes:

Final Degree Project: 350 €.

Master’s Thesis: 400 €.

Jury’s Decision JEONG Awards Resolution:

Once the deadline for submission of applications for the II Edition of the Call for “JEONG” Awards for Final Degree and Final Master’s Degree Projects of the East Asian Studies Area of the University of Malaga within the framework of the Project AKS-2021- INC-2250002, approved by Resolution dated March 2nd, 2023, the Jury resolved its decision.

– In the category of Final Degree Thesis, “History of Slavery in the Joseon Dynasty Told through the Yadam”, by Alejandro Soto Trascastro.

– In the Master’s Thesis category, “Korea, Spain and KPOP Public Dance: Community, Mediations and Incarnations”, by Emma Cabal Santesmases.
