XIV SEMANA DE COREA
제 14회 한국 주간
Desde el Área de Estudios de Asia Oriental-Departamento de Ciencias Históricas de la Universidad de Málaga, nos complace invitarles a la XIV Semana de Corea, que se celebrará del 21 al 27 de noviembre de 2025, con motivo del 75º aniversario de las relaciones diplomáticas entre España y la República de Corea y el 15º aniversario del Grado en Estudios de Asia Oriental-Mención Corea en la UMA.
Un año más, esta semana cultural reúne actividades académicas, artísticas y divulgativas con el objetivo de acercar la historia, la cultura y la sociedad contemporánea de Corea tanto a la comunidad universitaria como a la ciudad de Málaga. El programa incluye conferencias, talleres de cultura tradicional, cine coreano y representaciones de artes escénicas y música, entre otros.
Colaboran en la Semana de Corea la Embajada de la República de Corea en España, la Biblioteca Nacional de Corea, Window on Korea, Facultad de Estudios Sociales y del Trabajo, el Proyecto GISAENG (PID2023-150610NB-I00) del Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades, Contenedor Cultural UMA y Mu Teatro.

Call for Papers for the International Conference on «Popople at the Edges in Korea’s Past and Present»
The East Asian Studies Area of the University of Malaga, Spain is pleased to announce the International Conference “People at the Edges in Korea’s Past and Present” on February 24th to 27th, 2026.

The Conference will be held in Spanish, Korean and English.
Conference Topics
Abstract dealing with, but not limited to, the following topics, are welcome:
Gisaeng in Korea: Voices, Representations and Memory.
Nobi, Slavery, Force Labor and Human Trafficking.
Disempowered people, hadicaped and minorities in Korea (Social/Religious or Ethnic).
Socio- Political Activism and Feminism in Korea.
Literature, art and marginality.
Language discrimination, new ways of teaching Korean and inclusive communication in Korea.
The aim of this conference is to study the interrelated processes of discrimination, integration and domination of social groups within Korean society and history, with a special focus on women. The research topic can be approached from many disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives, with pre-modern and modern issues being of special interest. The given complexity of this topic invites also multidisciplinary and comparative research. Societies have organized themselves throughout their history employing mechanisms that have promoted social stratification. Since the Late Joseon dynasty, Korean society has suffered a strong reorganization that reevaluated the mechanisms and discourses of such stratification, opening the possibility for a social reorganization, but dynamics of discrimination, integration and domination still interplay in both Koreas. Given the extension of such topic, the present conference aims at focusing on various present and past main topics.

Curso de Traducción de Literatura Coreana 2025
Nos complace anunciar que ya está abierta la inscripción para el Curso de Traducción de Literatura Coreana-2025, organizado por el Área de Estudios de Asia Oriental del Departamento de Ciencias Históricas de la Universidad de Málaga, en colaboración con el Instituto de Traducción Literaria de Corea (LTI Korea).
Organizado desde 2015 por el Área de Estudios de Asia Oriental (UMA) y el Instituto de Traducción Literaria de Corea (LTI Korea), este curso está dirigido a quienes desean convertirse en traductores literarios del coreano al español. En esta edición la formación práctica y especializada se realizará a través de la traducción colectiva de la obra 미션 다이아몬드 de la autora Jeong Bo Ra, quien participará en una de las sesiones.
Será impartido por el profesor Antonio J. Doménech, experto en traducción coreano-español.
